The presidency of the Council of the European Union is held by Hungary from the 1st of July until 31 December 2024.

In a year of transition, the Hungarian presidency wants to ensure the continuity of work in the Council, in cooperation with a newly established European Parliament and European Commission. It also continues with the implementation of the EU strategic agenda 2024–2029, setting out the long-term guidelines for the Union’s future work.

Within the occupational safety and health (OSH) domain, the new Presidency focuses on mobilising the EU’s internal labour resources by promoting quality employment, with an emphasis on the ageing workforce. It also concentrates on improving working conditions and security, as well as on strengthening the role of the public employment services.
