As per the notification dated August 2, doctors will have to prescribe generic drugs to patients, or else they will face penal provisions.Calling it an “ill-advised” steps taken by NMC on the issue of generic drugs it said that it is an “emergency”. “It is a matter of great concern for IMA since this directly impacts patients’ care and safety,” it said in a statement. According to IMA this is not in the interest of the patient.
