‘Hormigas perplejas’ (Perplexed Ants) by Mercedes Moncada Rodríguez tells a story of men and women making ships and planes and facing the collapse of their industry in a small region in Southern Spain. The film provides a portrait of the impacts of changes in the modes of production in the 21st century and won the 2023 Healthy Workplaces Film Award for the best work-related documentary film at the Doclisboa International Film Festival.

According to the jury, it is “a film that gives an emotional portrayal of a collective struggle led by workers in the context of late capitalism. It reminds us not to stop fighting for the fundamental right to work in safe and healthy conditions.”

‘En attendant les robots’ (Human, not Human) by Belgian Natan Castay received a special mention by the jury for being “a film that both in a funny and lucid way portrays the dark future of mankind”.
