What You Should Know:

Babyscripts, the leader in virtual maternity care, and Lyft Healthcare have joined forces to eliminate a major hurdle for expectant mothers: transportation.

– The strategic collaboration provides sponsored rides to and from doctor appointments for transportation-insecure patients enrolled in Babyscripts’ program.

Ensuring Access to Essential Care

Pregnant women, regardless of their risk factors, will now have access to reliable transportation for their prenatal appointments, thanks to this innovative partnership. Funding from Lyft Healthcare will allow Babyscripts to offer Lyft Pass discounts, covering the cost of rides for qualifying patients in select regions.

Transportation Security Assessment

Babyscripts users will participate in a brief transportation security assessment within the mobile app. This assessment identifies individuals facing transportation challenges. For these patients, Babyscripts provides a unique discount code to ensure they can easily reach their prenatal appointments.

The Importance of Prenatal Care

Affordable and reliable transportation plays a critical role in maternal and infant health outcomes. Regular prenatal care is crucial for a healthy pregnancy, yet many women struggle with transportation barriers. More than 15% of pregnant women lack access to adequate prenatal care, leading to higher rates of preterm birth, low birthweight, and potential long-term health issues for both mother and child.

“Access is one of the biggest challenges to maternal health and infant health — and a patient’s outcomes can come down to whether or not they go to their doctor appointments,”  said Anish Sebastian, CEO and co-founder of Babyscripts. “Some patients in low access areas need to take two or three buses to get to the doctor’s office — that’s half of their day gone to attend an appointment. Many just can’t take that amount of time off of work or find support for children at home, and they end up being forced to miss an appointment. With this partnership, we’re making sure that those patients have a quick and reliable source of transportation with rides through Lyft.”
