AWS Healthcare Accelerator Launches Digital Health Startups

– Amazon Web Services (AWS), today announced the ten finalists and participants for the first ever AWS Healthcare Accelerator.  The ten companies were selected from 427 applications from 31 countries around the world by a panel from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and KidsX.  The AWS Healthcare Accelerator is a four-week technical, business, and mentorship accelerator opportunity open to U.S.-based healthcare startups or international healthcare startups that have existing U.S. operations.

–  AWS Healthcare Accelerator cohort represents a diverse group of healthcare solutions backed by diverse leadership, with 90% of the cohort having diversity of leadership and 70% being female-founded. The program is tailored to accelerate growth in the cloud, with a focus on solutions like remote patient monitoring, voice technology, analytics, patient engagement, and virtual care.

Here is a look at the first-ever AWS Healthcare Accelerator cohort:

AIVA is a Los Angeles-based startup that is the voice operating system for better care. They offer a voice-powered care assistant for hospital patient rooms and senior living communities.

b.well is a Baltimore-based, all-in-one integrated solution for consumer engagement, holistic health management, and cost containment. They use longitudinal aggregated data to paint a picture of health for each consumer and aggregate data to show population health.

Ejenta is a San Francisco-based company that automates remote monitoring and remote care delivery using artificial intelligence (AI) exclusively licensed from NASA. Their “intelligent agents” learn from connected devices and electronic health record (EHR) data to monitor patients, predict health, and connect care teams.

Giblib, headquartered in Los Angeles, creates a content streaming service-like educational experience for healthcare providers. It allows for the streaming of surgical videos and medical lecture from subject matter experts at the leading medical institutions on demand with unlimited access to receive continuing education credits.

Gyant, based in San Francisco, is a 24/7 AI virtual assistant and digital front door solution for health systems that allows them to optimize digital patient journeys. It navigates patients to the right care setting and resources, while also providing simple appointment scheduling.

Kaizen Health, from Chicago, is a healthcare logistics platform that connects healthcare and transportation to reduce the barriers for access in healthcare. It is used by health systems, payers, and senior living facilities.

Medical Informatics Corp, based in Houston, is empowering hospitals with a new, data-driven, standard of care through the company’s FDA-cleared Sickbay™ virtual care and analytics platform. Sickbay provides a singular, interconnected architecture that helps hospitals to reduce costs, enhance clinical workflows and improve operational efficiencies by enabling rapid scaling of remote patient monitoring across any inpatient setting.

Neuro Rehab VR, from Fort Worth, Texas, is a health technology company reinventing training exercises for physical and cognitive therapy by leveraging virtual reality and neuroplasticity for recovery. It allows providers to track their patients in real time and has shown increased patient engagement.

OneRecord, headquartered in New York, is giving patients access to their data. Their app helps patients build a consolidated health record of their entire medical history in a single place.

Pieces, based in Dallas, uses AI to assess and connect patients and health systems with solutions that address social determinants of health. They connect care providers to actionable data, people to services, and caseworkers to information. Pieces makes it easier to input, manage, store, organize, and gain insight from the data to connect with sources that meet social determinants of health.
