Brave Care Lands $10M to Expand Pediatric Primary and Urgent Care Clinics Nationwide

Brave Care Pediatric Primary and Urgent Care Expands Nationally and Raises $10M Series A

What You Should Know:

Brave Care, a Portland, OR-based company providing primary, urgent and remote pediatric to improving healthcare for kids, announced it has raised $10M in Series A funding led by City Light Capital, with participation from AV8, Interplay, Founders Co-op, Refactor, Learn Capital and other value-aligned investors like Gaingels.

– Brave Care currently operates two primary and urgent care clinics in Portland, OR and will use the funding to expand its empathy-fueled, research-driven care to Beaverton, OR, Austin, TX, and North Carolina later this year. It will also continue to enhance its provider-first technology, giving clinicians more time to focus on parents and kids during visits.

Modern Primary & Urgent Care for Kids

Founded in 2018 by Dr. Corey Fish, Darius Monsef, Maryam Taheri and Asa Miller, Brave Care gives parents access to easy, affordable, high-quality care for children through its comprehensive model, including: remote care available 24/7 through its Parent App, primary and urgent care clinics open from 10am-10pm 365 days a year, and on-site pharmacies—all within physical spaces that make every parent and child feel welcome, comfortable and safe. In addition, Brave Care also operates a mobile clinic that can serve families unable to travel to their clinics or access the Internet.

Brave Care boasts an NPS score of 92 across 10,000 visits, over 300 five-star reviews on Google, and has earned “Inc.’s Best Places to Work” award two years in a row.

Full-Stack Technology for Clinics

During the last year Brave Care doubled-down on its commitment to give parents a modern pediatric experience by building its own sophisticated full-stack technology for clinics, including:

– A HIPAA compliant in-clinic check-in platform that reduces complexity, eliminates redundant processes, and streamlines intake so clinicians can focus on caring for patients and creating authentic and personal interactions. As the company continues to expand nationally, the technology gives clinic staff the ability to know exactly which patient is in which room in any Brave Care clinic across the country. To date, the tool has saved Brave Care $500,000 in efficiency costs, and increased provider and patient satisfaction.

Parent App built by parents, for parents. The HIPAA-compliant tool acts as an easy-to-navigate resource to help families decide if their child needs to go into a hospital or clinic by offering a free chat-feature with a nurse triage 24/7, a Symptom Checker, Dosage Guides, the ability to track and schedule a child’s vaccine records, and more.

“As a parent of three, I know how scary, frustrating and confusing it can be to navigate your child’s health,” said Monsef. “Every kid deserves access to the best healthcare, regardless of their parents’ financial resources. This guiding principle is shared by everyone at Brave Care—ultimately, we want communities all across the country to have access to this same, next-level pediatric care, so we can empower kids to be their best selves.”

Expansion Plans

To support its 2021 expansion efforts in Beaverton, OR, Austin, TX and North Carolina the company will hire 100 employees over the next 9 months.
