Health Innovators: Teresa Arroyo-Gallego, nQ Medical

In this episode of our Health Innovators series, Paul Tunnah is joined by Teresa Arroyo-Gallego, chief data scientist at artificial intelligence technology company nQ Medical.

As a researcher in the biomedical engineering lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Teresa leads a team developing the neuroQWERTY technology to detect early signs of motor decline in diseases like Parkinson’s by monitoring how people type on their phones or computers. nQ Medical are hoping the technology can be applied to other disease areas including ALS, Alzheimer’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Teresa tells Paul about the science  behind the technology and how nQ Medical hopes to reshape cognitive screening.

Teresa discusses her views on AI, machine learning and digitalisation of healthcare, particularly in the wake of COVID. She also shares how digital platforms such as nQ Medical’s technology could be used by patients in everyday life.
