When considering the impact of a cyberattack, not enough attention is paid to aspects of workers’ physical and mental health, like injuries and psychosocial problems. That’s because it’s seen as an external threat, while health and safety are handled internally. To manage cyberattacks, organisations must incorporate occupational safety and health (OSH) in cybersecurity risk assessment.
This discussion paper examines OSH risks associated with cyberthreats and presents a holistic approach to cybersecurity. For example, raising awareness among all stakeholders, from OSH practitioners to IT security managers, is key to combatting cybercrime.
