Introduction
Ruthinna Arofat, an 80-year-old patient from Uzbekistan travelled to Abu Dhabi on 10th June 2021 for Hip Replacement Surgery after suffering from hip pain which hindered her everyday activities. She decided to get this surgery done by Dr. Oussama Chaar, who is presently associated with Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi. Ms. Arofat was looking forward to a hip replacement surgery as she had been in debilitating pain and unable to take part in everyday activities. The surgery was deemed successful with excellent work done by the specialist and his team. The patient had a pleasant yet satisfying experience during the procedure and was happy with the results.
Ms. Arofat chose to get this surgery done by Dr. Oussama Chaar, who has 31 plus years of experience in this field and has successfully completed thousands of hip and knee joint replacement surgeries. He has a lot of expertise in total hip replacement surgeries in people who have congenital hip dislocations. Dr. Oussama graduated from Liege University in Belgium with an MD in 1984. In 1990, he earned a Fellowship in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Liege University and a subspecialty in joint replacement surgery. He also has a diploma in biomechanics from Brussels’ ULB university and has been acknowledged by the “Lejeunne and Lechien Scientific Foundation” at Liege University’s Faculty of Medicine.

Pre-Treatment & Process
The patient started to look for options overseas to enable her to get back to the normalcy of everyday life. Despite the best efforts, she was not able to find a good treatment option in terms of the available healthcare facilities in her home country. This is when she got through to MediGence and discussed her medical condition after she shared the details of her condition. Ms. Arofat discussed some of the options in the UAE with the team at MediGence and ultimately settled for Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi to get her surgery done. She stayed in the hospital for five days and during this time the pre-treatment and the procedure itself was completed. She was subjected to several tests, which gave the right picture to the Orthopedic Specialist regarding the treatment process and reconfirmed the treatment approach. The hip replacement surgery was performed by the doctor within the prescribed time limit. The patient did not suffer from any complications post-operatively.
Post Treatment
Ms. Arofat and her son stayed in Abu Dhabi for 2 weeks for the most crucial recovery period. Her postoperative stay was organized by the MediGence patient care team. The patient care team at MediGence took care of all the logistical support for the patient, including airport transfers, appointment arrangements and hotel reservations. The patient care team kept in touch with the patient after surgery and scheduled a follow-up appointment with Dr. Oussama Chaar to ensure that she was recovering properly.
