Ms. Safwat Underwent DBS Surgery in Artemis Hospital, India

Introduction

Egypt’s 43-year-old Nevine Safwat traveled to India for medical treatment on March 23, 2021. The aunt of the patient accompanied her to the hospital in India.
Parkinson’s disease had been plaguing her for a long time. She had been afflicted with this condition for about 11 years. Tremor, or shaking, that usually starts in a limb, slowed movement, impaired posture and balance, loss of natural movements, and speech alterations were some of the symptoms she was experiencing.
She decided to have DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery) as a treatment for her ailment after consulting with doctors in her own country. Pre-Treatment & Process

The entire consultation was performed seamlessly & professionally by Dr. Sumit Singh (Neurologist) & later, Dr. Aditya Gupta (Neurosurgeon) performed the surgery. She stayed in Artemis Hospital for 5 Days for her treatment. Her stay at the Hospital was for DBS to control the symptoms of Parkinson’s. The most effective surgical treatment for Parkinson’s disease is deep brain stimulation (DBS). Thin metal wires are implanted in the brain by a surgeon, and these wires provide electrical pulses to the brain to assist control some motor symptoms.
Nevine had a counseling appointment with the Neurosurgeon- Dr. Aditya Gupta, before being admitted to the hospital. Ms. Safwat’s questions were answered and she was given information about her health by the doctor and his colleagues. The patient also had an in-depth conversation with her Neurologist about the treatments she has been receiving, if any, the status of her disease in relation to the treatment, and even the route forward. The doctor and the healthcare team answered all of her questions properly, and she was able to express all of her worries. Then, as recommended by the doctor, she had testing such as MRIs, CT scans, and other pertinent examinations, as well as surgery preparation.

Post-Treatment

During her rehabilitation, Ms. Nevine Safwat stayed in India for 6 weeks.
