COVID-19 symptoms lasting more than four weeks after the infection is gone are generally called Long Covid. This condition can affect nearly every organ system with very different effects including respiratory, neurocognitive, metabolic, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal disorders, musculoskeletal pain, and anemia.

When considering the size of the potential Long Covid population and the fact that most of this group are workers, this presents a considerable challenge for occupational safety and health (OSH).
