Platform work: what are the occupational safety and health risks and how do we tackle them?

A new literature review maps the challenges that digital platform workers face — from inadequate social protection and digital surveillance to job and income insecurity. It examines the impact of these challenges on occupational safety and health (OSH), and looks at new initiatives and legislation aimed at preventing and managing OSH risks.

With growing numbers employed through digital platforms, addressing these risks and protecting platform workers is a top priority at EU level. To help inform the development of effective OSH policies and practices for the platform economy, the policy brief accompanying the report sets out key considerations for policy-makers.
