Rite Aid Corp. says staring on July 21, it will require customers to wear face coverings in its stores nationwide. The company adds that if customers do not wear a face covering, it will provide one at no cost. Rite Aid Chief Operating Officer Jim Peters says: “As the pandemic continues to embattle the country, it’s critical that health care companies lead by example and do all we can to ensure the health and safety of our associates and customers.” The move is similar to other retailers that have also announced face-covering policies, including CVS Health, as new cases of COVID-19 reach unprecedented levels. The National Retail Federation also encourages all retailers to do so.
