U.S. military to help states with coronavirus vaccine sites

The White House on Friday said that more than 1,000 active-duty military personnel are expected to provide assistance to states’ COVID-19 vaccination sites, as the Biden administration examines ways to strengthen the nation’s immunization initiative. New coronavirus infections nationwide declined by 17% over the past week, but the daily number of deaths remains high. Overall, more than 454,000 people have died of COVID-19 complications across the country. Public health officials urged Americans not to attend large gatherings on Super Bowl Sunday.
