Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, JPMorgan end health-care venture Haven

Haven Health—a health care collaboration launched by Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan Chase in 2018—will be dismantled next month. The partners had hoped to revolutionize the U.S. health care system, achieving significantly lower costs for their employees in the process. In particular, the venture was intent on developing novel strategies for improving primary care access, simplifying insurance, and reducing prescription drug costs. Insiders say the ambitious plans were hamstrung by the differing needs and priorities of each of the three companies. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon hailed Haven Health as “an incubator of ideas, a place to pilot, test and learn—and a way to share best practices,” and he indicated the founding businesses would continue to work together in a less formal capacity going forward.
