Dierbergs to sell its pharmacy operations to Mercy

Dierbergs Markets has agreed to sell all 22 of its traditional and specialty pharmacies to Mercy, a St. Louis-based health system, for an undisclosed price. Mercy will operate the Dierbergs pharmacies in their current locations under a long-term lease, officials said Tuesday. Mercy may also develop pharmacies at future Dierbergs locations. Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacy associates currently employed by Dierbergs who are in good standing when the transaction closes will become Mercy employees at their current locations, subject to completing hiring requirements, officials said. The deal brings Mercy’s total number of pharmacies to 34 in the St. Louis area and 48 system-wide.
