Alphabet’s Verily + L’Oréal Partner to Advance Precision Skin Health

What You Should Know:

– Today, Alphabet’s Verily, a world leader in personalized medicine, and L’Oréal, the world leader in beauty, joined forces to lead a new era of precision skin health.

– The first-of-its-kind partnership in the beauty industry aims to break down barriers to dermatology care and bring new insights to dermatologists that can help improve health outcomes for the nearly two billion people worldwide with skin issues.

Strategic Partnership Addresses Unmet Need in Dermatology

One in three Americans are afflicted with skin health issues and far too many do not have access to a dermatologist, despite the crucial role they play in understanding a person’s health as well as the aging process. The Verily-L’Oréal partnership will seek ways to address the unmet need in dermatology globally through two main programs:

– Conduct one of the world’s largest and most in-depth skin cohort studies to establish a 360-degree view of skin health, decoding and discovering the links between factors like biology, nutrition, lifestyle and age.

– Explore the development of new technologies and tele-diagnosis solutions such as sensors, and AI algorithms for dermatology and skincare, that can form the basis for new services.

“We are excited to partner with Verily, a world leader in precision health tech.  L’Oréal’s century-long commitment to pioneering innovation has come from our strong belief in the intersection between science, formulations, and our unique Advanced Research capabilities to decode revolutionary scientific discoveries that will create the future of beauty” says Nicolas Hieronimus, Chief Executive Officer, L’Oréal Group. “Thanks to this partnership, we want to lead a new era of skin health, through tech and science, to enable every person around the world the most inclusive, personalized, powerful and precise programs for their skin at each stage of their lives.”
